About the story

This story is about a grizzled old warrior leading a team in their gigantic battle mechas, as they square off against giant alien  monsters. Inspired by Kaiju monsters, it's a tale that weaves in the ending of a relationship.

The song

This one is inspired by the song The Way It Was, by The Killers. It's a song about someone reminiscing about a relationship that's changed, and how he longs for how it used to be - even though he knows it cannot be that way. I particularly like this live version they did in Scotland in 2013.
